  • Chemours® PTFE 7A
Chemours® PTFE 7A Sheets, Rods and Tubes are made from a white powder with very small particle size. Its most unique feature is high bulk density. The small particle size of Chemours® PTFE 7A helps to minimize voids even at relatively low molding pressure. High bulk density increases the size of moldings possible from a given mold or press opening.

Chemours® PTFE 7A is preferred for large moldings, such as billets, requiring optimum mechanical and electrical properties. It is also used in a mixture with fillers when they are added to modify the mechanical properties of moldings.

Properly processed products made from neat Chemours® PTFE 7A provide the superior properties typical of the fluoropolymer resins: retention of properties after service at 260°C (500°F), useful properties at —240°C (—400°F), chemical inertness to nearly all industrial chemicals and solvents, and low friction and antistick surfaces. Dielectric properties are outstanding and stable with frequency and temperature. Molded products have moderate stiffness and high ultimate elongation.

In a flame situation, products of Chemours® PTFE 7A resist ignition and do not themselves promote flame spread. When ignited by flame from other sources, their contribution of heat is small and with very little smoke.

  • Copper
Copper is a reddish colored metal which is malleable and ductile. It has excellent thermal and electrical conductivities and good corrosion resistance. It is found in sulphide ores and as carbonate, arsenide and chloride (abundance in the Earth's crust is 50 ppm). Extraction of the metal involves roasting the ore to produce the oxide, followed by reduction and purification by electrolysis. The element is inert to non-oxidizing acids but reacts with oxidizing agents. In air, it will weather to produce the characteristic green patina of the carbonate. Copper will combine with oxygen on heating to produce CuO at red heat, and Cu2O at elevated temperatures. Pure copper has an electrical conductivity second only to that of silver and hence its main application is in the electrical industry. Copper is also the basis of many important alloys (e.g. brass, bronze and aluminum bronze) and has been traditionally considered to be one of the coinage metals, along with silver and gold, but being more common, is the least valued. It is one of the first metals ever to have been worked by man and is thought to have been mined for more than 5000 years.
    • Grades include: C101, C110 (ETP), C145 (Tellurium), C147 (Surfur), C182 (Chromium-Copper)

  • CPVC-350 - ESd FM 4910 (Bending Grade)
      CPVC-350™ - ESd FM 4910 (Bending Grade)
Static Dissipative CPVC Sheet to meet Factory Mutual FM-4910
CPVC-350™ FM 4910 is a plastic sheet product that controls static electricity in clean room applications requiring flame retardant clear plastic. These applications include bent and contoured panels for: cleanroom glazing, equipment covers, enclosures, and windows. The product is a Factory Mutual 4910* compliant chlorinated polyvinyl chloride sheet coated with SciCron Technologies clear, C-350™ static dissipative coating to prevent charge generation on the sheet surfaces. This controls particulate attraction and prevents electrostatic discharge (ESD) events completely independent of humidity. CPVC-350 - FM 4910 has excellent flammability and smoke generation properties, plus superior chemical resistance and bending properties.

*The CPVC substrate used to make this product has been tested according to procedures outlined in the Factory Mutual Clean Room Materials Flammability Test Protocol (Class 4910) and is listed in the Factory Mutual Research Approval Guide. It has been formulated to resist fire and to emit low levels of smoke when tested according to this protocol. The C-350 coated product, CPVC-350 - FM 4910, has not been similarily tested by Factory Mutual Research, however, it is very unlikely that the presence of the C-350 coating on the sheet surfaces has any influence on the flammability characteristics of the sheet when tested according to the 4910 protocol. The C-350 coating, which is only one micron thick, is formulated with an incombustible conductive metal oxide which makes up 66% of the coating weight. The remainder of the coating adds less than 0.3 gram of combustible binder per square foot of coated sheet surface. The addition of such a small fractional percentage of combustible material is extremely difficult to detect.
    • CPVC-350 - FM 4910 is available in a Transparent Blue-Gray Tint.
    • Standard Thicknesses: 0.125", 0.187", 0.250", 0.375", 0.500", 1.00"

Homalite H-911 CR-39® is a ultra-high optical quality sheet that provides solutions to challenging glazing & display applications in the Nuclear, Electronic & Aerospace industries.
CR-39® monomer is the dominant material for eyeglass lenses. Homalite casts CR-39® monomer into sheet form known by the trade name H-911. Homalite H-911 is clear, hard, almost colorless, and thermally set. Its surfaces are comparable in smoothness, luster, and chemical resistance to polished plate glass.

Optional Surfaces: Homalite material which is used as a filter/window in front of a display is often specified with a low-reflectance finish. These surface finishes minimize glare by reducing specular reflection. Unlike other filters, the low glare surface of Homalite filters is cast into the material. This surface is not a lamination or coating so it cannot separate, chip, peel or rub off. Two low-reflectance surfaces are available:
    • LR72 - The most light-diffusing surface. For mounting as close as possible to the light source. This finish provides a high level of light diffusion and is also characterized by its ability to provide resolution of 12 point, 1/8 inch high (pica) print or larger characters when the filter source is at a parallel to the plane of the light source at a distance of no greater than 1/2 inch from the source. Characters should be viewed perpendicular to the surface of the filter in ambient light (100 foot-candles.)
    • LR92 - This finish provides a lesser degree of light diffusion but higher resolution than LR 72 described above. Typically 12 point 1/8 inch high print or characters can be resolved through the part when it is placed parallel to the plane of the light source at a distance of no greater than 2 inches from the source. Characters should be viewed perpendicular to the surface of the filter at ambient light.

  • Dura-Core 1000 Composite Flooring
DURA-CORE 1000 TECHNOLOGY IN TRANSIT: NEW LIGHT-WEIGHT, HIGH-STRENGTH COMPOSITE TRANSIT FLOORING SYSTEM MEETS STANDARDS FOR LOW SMOKE, LOW FLAME, AND TOXICITY.

Dura-Core 1000 compression molded composite panel combines high strength fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) laminate skins with a lightweight thermoplastic foam core material. The panel exhibits excellent flame, smoke, and toxicity properties (FST). Engineered for use as a floor material in light transit rail car interiors, and multi-wheeled vehicle applications, the unique resin system meets stringent transit industry specifications for FST and is halogen free.

In addition to these best-practice safety standards, Dura-Core 1000's mechanical properties deliver significant energy efficiencies via its light weight core and additional cost-efficiency realized via Haysite's proprietary, one-step compression molding process vs. other methods such as vacuum infusion. In addressing the transit industries critical concern of flame/smoke generation and smoke toxicity, Dura-Core 1000 has been tested using the following ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials) methods and provided excellent results.
    • ASTM E-162: Surface Flammability of Materials Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source.
    • ASTM E-662: Specific Optical Density of Smoke Generated by Solid Materials.
    • BSS 7239: Toxic Gas Generation by Materials on Combustion.

The product's proprietary skins are comprised of a flame retardant FRP material which meets the NYCTA (New York City Transit Authority) specification 64 for low FST and stringent mechanical properties. Whereas traditional plymetal flooring material is comprised of wood and metal weighing approximately 3.5 lbs. per sq. ft., Dura-Core 1000's composite weight is much lighter at 2.5 lbs. per sq. ft. This 28.6% weight reduction (SG=0.63), coupled with Haysite's unique compression molding process, offers viable energy savings and cost-efficiencies versus plymetal configurations.

Dura-Core 1000 is fully compression molded in a sandwich core construction to ensure against any separation / delamination failure. The composite system's physical properties also offer excellent corrosion and chemical resistance; providing very low moisture absorption and excellent resistance to a variety of harsh weather environments.

Current Standard Dura-Core 1000 Size Specifications Include:
    • Standard Sheet Sizes of 36 x 72, 48 x 60, 48 x 96 (inches)
    • Top/bottom rigid layers are .093 inch.125 inch and .165 inch thick
    • Thickness of .500 inch to 2.00 inch total thickness
    • Custom sheet sizes available to meet all applications

Dura-Core 1000 has also been successfully tested for a small scale fire resistance to meet the ASTM E119 Flame Specification - the principal method to test the fire-resistance of a variety of flooring materials. The test implemented a mocked up portion of a rail car using a 4 inch x 6 inch specimen of Dura-Core 1000 to withstand flame under a time vs. temperature curve. The final testing results indicated that the specimen did not emit smoke and gasses hot enough to ignite cotton waste at any time during the exposure. Notably, the testing exposure time for Dura-Core 1000 was in excess of 40 minutes - over 2.5 times more than the standard required minimum time of 15 minutes, and significantly longer than the new projected standard of 30 minutes. In addition to also meeting the FST requirements of the NYCTA Specification 64, Dura-Core 1000 is designed to meet the required testing qualifications for new and retrofit applications for the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART), Bombardier, and Kawasaki.
