  • Alumina 99.5% (Al2O3)
      Alumina 99.5% (Al2O3)
Alumina (Al2O3) is one of the most widely specified, general-purpose technical ceramics. All aluminas are very hard and wear resistant, with high compressive strength even against extreme temperatures and corrosive environments. Aluminas are also excellent electrical insulators and are gas tight.

Alumina is produced by firing a tightly packed powder form of Al2O3 which includes some binder material. Commercially available grades range from 90% up to 99.95% with the higher purity generating somewhat higher hardness. It is possible to machine alumina using diamond grinding techniques. Polishing is also possible, with the degree attainable affected by alumina grain size and production technique, whether pressed or extruded.

90%-97% - Best suited for metalizing (metal deposition which allows brazing) because of large grain structure.

98%-99.95% - Common range for isostatically pressed grades, with extruded shapes also available at low cost.

As-fired tolerances are generally only possible within a few percent of dimension. Extremely tight tolerances are attainable, but only by precision machining the fired part using diamond grinding techniques. This adds considerable cost, but tolerances to millionths of an inch are possible, and are often cost effective due to the extraordinary stability and durability of the finished piece.

  • Beryllium Copper Alloy 25
Beryllium Copper 25 is a Copper base alloy with the capability of being strengthened by precipitation heat treatment. The alloy furnishes the best combination of electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance and mechanical strength necessary for numerous electronic and electro-mechanical devices.

Beryllium Copper 25 alloy is quite satisfactory for fabrication with good formability and joining characteristics. Forming is readily accomplished from the annealed temper. Severe bending will be less successful from hard or heat treated tempers and requires large fold radius ratios.

Beryllium Copper 25 is able to be soldered, brazed, and welded by most standard techniques. The brazing temperature must be kept under 1450° F and cycle time minimized to avoid loss of heat treated strength. Heat treating should be performed subsequent to welding to obtain uniform high strength. The alloy is not susceptible to an increase in magnetic attraction from plastic deformation during service such as occurs with the ferromagnetic stainless steels.

  • Chemours® PTFE 9B
Chemours® PTFE 9B is a free-flowing white powder composed of premelted resin. It is designed for use in the ram extrusion process. Compared with other DuPont resins suitable for ram extrusion, Chemours® PTFE 9B provides outstanding resistance to charge fracture (poker-chipping) caused by excessive back-pressure during the extrusion of small-diameter rods, thin-wall tubing, and complicated profiles. Its' uniform particle characteristics make it well suited for difficult feeding conditions.

Properly processed products made from neat Chemours® PTFE 9B provide the superior properties typical of the fluoropolymer resins: retention of properties after service at 260°C (500°F), useful properties at -240°C (-400°F), chemical inertness to nearly all industrial chemicals and solvents, and low friction and antistick surfaces. Dielectric properties are outstanding and stable with frequency and temperature.

In a flame situation, products of Chemours® PTFE 9B resist ignition and do not themselves promote flame spread. When ignited by flame from other sources, their contribution of heat is small and with very little smoke. Note: Statements, or data, regarding behavior in a flame situation are not intended to reflect hazards presented by this or any other material when under actual fire conditions.

  • Cushion Pads for Pile Driving
Cushion pads are used to improve the pile-driving process, a common activity in the construction of large structures such as bridges and buildings. Piles - heavy beams of concrete, steel, or other materials are pounded into the ground by a large "hammer" attached to a crane. The cushion pad, which sits inside a "helmet" placed between the hammer and the pile, must transmit force while protecting the pile.

Cushion Pads have proven themselves in all types of pile driving applications. Professional Plastics has the ability to cut pads to your specifications on our CNC Router. Hammer cushion pads have to be strong to withstand the pounding and to transmit the driving force needed while protecting your equipment and the pile. Hammer cushion pads extend the life of your hammer while transmitting the maximum striking force to the pile.

Made of Impact-Resistant Cast Nylon or Phenolic, these cushion pads will absorb the initial hammer shock while transferring the power that you need to the helmet and into the pile. By absorbing this initial hammer shock, these cushion pads reduce the tremendous wear and stress hammers are subjected to, thereby, minimizing breakdowns and nonproductive downtimes. Damage to the contact point of the pile is also lessened often making it unnecessary to trim the pile which can be a time consuming and costly procedure. Nythane® Nylon is chemically formulated copolymer designed to offer an engineering material with the High Tensile and Compressive properties of Cast Nylon, with the impact and wear resistance of polyurethane.

Nylon Cushion Pads are offered in 3 specific grades:
    • Nythane: The unfilled, or "natural" grade of material, is yellow in color and displays exceedingly high impact resistance and tensile properties. Use considerations include environments with: Shock, Abrasion, Vibration, Impact & Moisture absorption.
    • Nythane Oil: - Using the same proprietary process as our Nylatech® Oil, our liquid lubrication impregnated within the polymer chain offers excellent surface lubricity. In addition to the advantages of Nylatech Nythane, use considerations for Nylatech® Nythane Oil includes the following environments: Increased Wear, Moisture Absorption, Increased Abrasion.
    • Nythane SL:The impact resistance of the Nythane copolymer with the wear resistance of Nylatech® SL (solid lubricant) result in the longest lasting material for the most aggressive industrial applications. Use considerations include: Extreme Wear, Extreme Abrasion

Canvas Phenolic Cushion Pads provide tremendous impact resistance and stability while absorbing shock. Canvas phenolic is made from a medium weave cotton cloth fabric and mixed with phenolic resins to provide good wear resistance, low moisture absorption, and good mechanical strength at economical cost.
