VESTAKEEP® grades for medical technology
We offer the grades VESTAKEEP® M2G, VESTAKEEP® M4G und VESTAKEEP® M4P for medical applications. These products have been formulated for high biocompatibility, and batch tests are conducted in vitro to test for cytotoxicity according to DIN EN 10993-5, which ensures a necessary margin of safety.
VESTAKEEP M2G and VESTAKEEP M4G meet the following requirements for medical applications:

Wegener Autotherm Welder
Wegener Autotherm Welder - Plastic Welding Equipment
The Autotherm is an electronically controlled temperature regulated plastic hot-air welding tool that provides the highest quality welding environment. At the back of the handle is a dial with temperature scale which allows for precise setting of welding temperature. A blinking LED signals to the operator that the set temperature has been achieved. Power surges, air volume changes and intake variations are automatically compensated for. The heating element life is vastly extended since thermal overload is no longer possible. Supplied with a 120 VAC, 800W heating element, the Autotherm is suitable for use with clean air sources or inert gasses (N2).
- Requires 35 liter/minute (1.2 CFM) of air/gas flow.

Wegener Duratherm Welder
Wegener Duratherm hot air welding gun features an electronic output control incorporated in the handle to ensure continuous adjustment of the welding air temperature without alteration of air volume. Duratherm standard features include: control board with built-in sensor to prevent heating element burn-outs, temperature adjustable from ambient to 1100°F (600° C) to accommodate all types of thermoplastic materials, insulating tube for protection of element, back plate can be rotated 360°.

ZTA-96 Zirconia Toughened Alumina
ZTA-96 is a zirconia toughened alumina ceramic that exhibits excellent wear and corrosion resistance along with high strength and toughness. ZTA-96 zirconia toughened alumina combines the superior wear resistance properties of AmAlOx 68 (99.8% alumina) and the high strength and toughness properties of AmZirOx 86 (yttria stabilized zirconia)
The unique engineering properties exhibited by ZTA-96 provide a cost effective materials solution to the most demanding applications which require wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature stability and superior mechanical strength. ZTA-96 zirconia toughened alumina components can be manufactured to precision tolerances and finishes in a wide range of shapes and sizes.

Zirconium Oxide - Zirconia Y-TZP
Zirconium Oxide - Zirconia Y-TZP Ceramic
Zirconia (Zirconium Oxide) Y-TZP is a yttria stabilized zirconia ceramic material which features high strength and toughness making it a candidate material for use in severe structural applications which exhibit wear, corrosion, abrasion and impact. This material is also commonly referred to as Y-TZP or Yttria Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystal. Zirconia is designed to absorb the energy of impacts that would cause most ceramics to fail. Zirconia components can be fabricated into a wide range of precision shapes and sizes utilizing conventional ceramic processing technology and finishing techniques.

ABS Sheet (General Purpose ABS Plastic Sheets - thermoforming grade) is offered by Professional Plastics in a wide range colors & grades. ABS Sheets are produced in monolayer and co-extruded multilayer. Stocked in Standard Black and White with Hair Cell Finish on 1 Side. Custom colors also available. Custom formulations can be combined to provide performance an cost saving options such as Virgin Cap + Utility Base, Low Gloss (matte) Cap + Utility Base, and Custom Color Cap + Utility Base.

ACRYLITE® EndLighten acrylic sheet is designed to perform uniform illumination and neutral color presentation throughout the sheet. ACRYLITE EndLighten sheet conceals light sources such as LED lighting inside the frame even in ultra slim applications while producing extremely bright signage. Applications include thin profile signage and poster panels for airports, malls, gyms, restaurants, bus stops, mass transit and outdoor applications.

Bakelite® Phenolic Info
Bakelite® is a registered trademark which is used for material based on the thermosetting phenol formaldehyde resin polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride, developed in 1907-1909 by Dr. Leo Baekeland. Formed by the reaction under heat and pressure of phenol and formaldehyde, generally with a wood flour filler, it was the first plastic made from synthetic polymers. It was used for its nonconductive and heat-resistant properties in radio and telephone casings and electrical insulators.
Structure of Bakelite® - Due to its hardness and durability, it was considered as a material for making pennies in the United States during World War II, due to copper being needed for shell casings. Several patterns were made in 1942, but steel was used instead in 1943 and recycled shell casings in 1944 and 1945. Bakelite Corp. was formed in 1922 from General Bakelite Co., Condensite Corp. and Redmanol Co. The company was acquired by Union Carbide and Carbon Corp. in 1938.
Bakelite Limited was formed in 1927 from the amalgamation of three suppliers of phenol formaldehyde materials: the Damard Lacquer Company Limited of Birmingham; Mouldensite Limited of Darley Dale and Redmanol Limited of London. Around 1928, a new factory opened in Tyseley, Birmingham in September 1931. It was demolished in 1998.

Phenolics are little used in general consumer products today due to the cost and complexity of production and their brittle nature. An exception to the overall decline is the use in small precision-shaped components where their specific properties are required, such as molded disc brake cylinders, saucepan handles, electrical plugs and switches, and electrical iron parts. Today, Bakelite® is manufactured under various commercial brand names such as Micarta. Micarta is produced in sheets, rods and tubes for hundreds of industrial applications in the electronics, power generation and aerospace industries.
Bakelite® Phenolic sheet is a hard, dense material made by applying heat and pressure to layers of paper or glass cloth impregnated with synthetic resin. These layers of laminations are usually of cellulose paper, cotton fabrics, synthetic yarn fabrics, glass fabrics or unwoven fabrics. When heat and pressure are applied to the layers, a chemical reaction (polymerization) transforms the layers into a high-pressure thermosetting industrial laminated plastic.
Bakelite® Phenolic is produced in dozens of commercial grades to meet mechanical, electrical and thermal requirements.
