  • Tygon® ND 100-80 Tubing
Tygon® ND 100-80 Tubing (replaces Tygon S-54-HL), one of the medical industry's first non-DEHP tubing offerings, has been specifically formulated in a higher durometer that makes it possible to produce smaller diameter tubings with a high resistance to kinking and collapse.

      Characteristics:
Tygon® ND 100-80 is available in five extremely small sizes for use in catheters, intravenous or intra-arterial infusion, and other surgical and hospital applications. It is rigid enough for easy handling, yet soft enough to reduce problems with puncturing. Since Tygon® ND 100-80 is thermoplastic in nature, it can be fabricated into cannulas or protective sheath products using thermoforming and flaring techniques. Based upon a unique chemistry developed by Saint-Gobain, Tygon® ND Series tubing was formulated to be Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of CHemical substances (REACH) compliant for DEHP. To ensure compliance, every individual compound lot is tested to ensure DEHP levels are <1000 ppm. During the extrusion process, individual product dimensions are maintained and monitored through in-line micrometers and off-line verification with computerized imaging equipment. Consistent with many medical tubing requirements, ND 100-80 material can be effectively bonded/welded using the following methods: heat, electronic (RF)/ultrasonic, solvent and adhesive. Factors to be considered when selecting the components include: security of the bond required, effect on the integrity of the materials to be joined, and presence of residues or extractables that may affect biocompatibility. When bonding procedures are not used, mechanical clamps are recommended to provide secure attachment.

      Biocompatibility
Tygon® ND 100-80 is made from a biocompatible non-DEHP polymer material developed specifically for medical device needs. The product is USP Class VI approved and REACH compliant.

  • Zotefoams - Plastazote® Foams
Zotefoams Product Range: The unique nitrogen expansion process results in a range of foams produced from a wide range of polymers, including LDPE, HDPE PP, EVA copolymers and the recently introduced metallocene catalyst based foams.

Plastazote® Foam (LD45)- Plastazote® is a closed cell cross-linked polyethylene foam with a density of 45 Kg/M3. A wide range of polymer combinations give increased stiffness, improved temperature resistance and improved moldability. Application areas include packaging, protective padding contact sports, automotive applications, health care and for construction.

Plastazote® Foam (LD 15)- Plastazote LD15 Low Density Polyethylene Foam with a density of 15 Kg/M3. Plastazote is a closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam manufactured using Zotefoams unique production process. Plastazote foam LD15 which is available in sheet form and is fabricated by modern techniques and can be thermoformed into shapes.

Plastazote® is acknowledged as the most cited thermoplastic foam material in medical literature. The material is used extensively in a wide variety of medical and health care applications, many of which involve direct skin contact. These outstanding properties stem from the unique manufacturing process technology, which produces a pure, chemically inert foam without blowing agent residues and with a uniform cell structure with regular cell walls.

Latex-free, non-toxic and hypoallergenic, the use of Plastazote foams helps reduce skin irritation. Plastazote foams are typified by their highly consistent cell structure. Because they are expanded in a free environment (without the use of a mold) they also have little in-built stress and little tendency to distort during conversion; both features that make them easy to process and fabricate.

Plastazote foams can be routed cleanly to produce the most complex of shapes. Being cross-linked they are equally suitable for thermoforming, either by compression or vacuum molding. They can be split, sawn, water jet cut, die-cut, butt-welded and heat laminated together to form thicker blocks.

  • Acetal Sheets & Acetal Rods (Copolymer)
Acetal Sheets and Acetal Rods (aka POM) acetal copolymer plastic sheets and acetal rods provide high strength and stiffness coupled with enhanced dimensional stability and ease of machining. Acetal Rods and Acetal Sheets are also characterized by a low coefficient of friction and good wear properties especially in wet environments. Because of its high strength, modulus, and resistance to impact and fatigue, Acetal is used as a weight-saving metal replacement. Acetal copolymer overcomes the common problem of centerline porosity in large shapes of Acetal Homopolymer (aka Delrin)
    • Acetal Copolymer is preferred to Delrin® in high-pressure applications where centerline porosity is a concern.
    • Acetal Copolymer is produced under several brand names including Celcon®, Ultraform® & Acetron®.
