Torlon® 5530 (30% Glass-Filled PAI)
Torlon® 5030 (30% glass-filled polyamide-imide) is the compression-molded version on Solvay Torlon 5030 injection-molding resin. The compression-molding process creates a random dispersement of the glass fibres which in-turn allows for tremendous dimensional stability in all directions (as compared to unidirectional glass-fibre flow created through injection-molding and extrusion. In addition to strength and dimensional stability, Torlon® 5530 is electrically insulative with a surface resistivity of > 1013 Ù/sq. It has exceptional dielectric strength- over 800-volt/ mil. It offers best- in- class radiation resistance, withstanding exposure to 10 x 9th rads*. Close tolerance components are produced from 5030 including welding tip insulators, CVT clutch rollers, fasteners, igniter cups & cases, gears, splines, hydraulic poppets and many other structural and dynamic components.
Limitations: Only manufactured in Plates (maximum plate size: 14" x 28").
