    • Acetron® GP FDA Colors is a new FDA-Compliant Colored Acetal. Improved process technology now allows Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products to offer seven standard FDA-compliant colors of Acetron® GP acetal rod in small quantities and drastically-reduced lead times.
      The new capability in colored stock shapes for machining overcomes the historical two to three months' lead time and high minimum order volume requirements due to resin and shapes production limitations. All of the new Acetron® GP colors meet the requirements of FDA Regulation 21 CFR, Section 177.2470 (e)(1),(2).
      The colors are ideal where change-out parts need to be quickly and easily identified for use on specific processes.
      Quadrant's Acetron® GP, in red, blue, green, yellow, orange, gray and brown, is available within 3-4 weeks from date of order, in quantities of about 200 lbs per size and color, depending on diameter. Sample discs are available for specification purposes.
      The colors are strictly intended for industrial, pharmaceutical and food-related applications, and are not suitable for medical orthopedic use, at this time.
      This standard set of colors gives engineers access to Acetron GP acetal's porosity-free, low stress and cost-effective performance in machined parts, while adding increased functionality to their end product. The breakthrough is our ability to compress the time and volume formerly necessary for colors from the resin supplier and in our own shapes production.

    • Duratron U1000 PEI is an amorphous polymer offering high strength and excellent flame and heat resistance. It performs continuously to 340°F (170°C), making it ideal for high strength/ high heat applications, and those requiring consistent dielectric properties over a wide frequency range. It is hydrolysis resistant, highly resistant to acidic solutions and capable of withstanding repeated autoclaving cycles.

      Duratron U2100, U2200 and U2300 PEI are glass-reinforced versions (10, 20, and 30%, respectively) of Duratron U1000 PEI which provide even greater rigidity and improved dimensional stability while maintaining many of the useful characteristics of basic Duratron U1000 PEI. Duratron PEI is FDA and USP Class VI compliant. FDA compliant colors of Duratron PEI are also available on a custom basis.

      Duratron PEI commonly is machined into parts for reusable medical devices, analytical instrumentation, electrical/electronic insulators (including many semiconductor process components) and a variety of structural components requiring high strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures. Quadrant offers Duratron U1000 PEI and Duratron U2300 PEI as standard products.
    • Fluorosint® HPV PTFE - Most Wear Resistant Fluorosint Grade - Outlasts Low-tech PTFE Based Materials
      FDA-compliant Fluorosint HPV is a mica-filled high-performance bearing grade that can deliver a pressure velocity (PV) performance improvement of more than 40 per cent over other PTFE materials according to in-house tests conducted by Quadrant. Parts made of Fluorosint HPV can withstand higher loads and velocities while delivering better wear resistance, enabling the part to last longer compared to existing FDA-compliant PTFE-based materials. The product was specially developed to meet the demands of high-performance bearing applications where other, low-technology PTFE formulations would exhibit premature wear or not perform adequately. These characteristics, together with FDA compliance for food and pharmaceutical applications, open up interesting new options for engineers and manufacturers. Simply put, parts machined from Fluorosint HPV last longer than those made from many of the alternative filled PTFE materials on the market today. Fluorosint HPV can replace bronze, steel and powdered metal parts and deliver performance gains in wear life and system performance. Typical applications include thrust washers, wear guides, seals and food processing and preparation equipment.

      FDA compliant Fluorosint HPV PTFE is a high performance bearing grade of Fluorosint - optimized for high PV and very low "K" or wear factor. Fluorosint HPV PTFE was developed for bearing applications where other, low-tech PTFE formulations exhibit premature wear or simply cannot perform. FDA compliance gives food and pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers new design options and all benefit from its excellent load bearing and wear characteristics.
    • Fluorosint® 135 is a PTFE material designed to provide the lowest coefficient of friction and deformation for seals, bearings, and washer applications. This material exhibits a unique combination of mechanical properties, temperature and chemical resistance. The composition of the resin used for production of the KETRON ® PEEK-LSG stock shapes complies with the regulations that apply in the Member States of the European Union (Directive 2002/72/EC, as amended) and in the United States of America (FDA) for plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs.

      Ketron PEEK-GF30 LSG blue stock shapes have been successfully type tested for their compliance with both United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and ISO 10993-1 guideline requirements for Biocompatibility Testing of Materials, and they come with full traceability from resin to stock shape. These features, added to an excellent sterilizability by means of steam, dry heat, ethylene oxide, plasma and gamma irradiation, make Ketron PEEK-GF30 LSG blue stock shapes very suitable for applications in the medical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets.

      Ketron PEEK-GF30 LSG is available in sheet and rod forms and is medium blue in color.

    • NylaSteel™ composite stock shapes reduce the slippage and fabrication costs associated with press-fitting a nylon component and mechanically fastening onto a steel core. With NylaSteel™ composites, the nylon component is cast directly onto a specially treated steel shaft. In the case of NylaSteel™ billets, the steel core diameter can be from 1.5 to 4.5 in. Overall diameter of the NylaSteel™ billets can be up to 10.5 in. The material, supplied in billet form, can be saw-cut and machined as homogeneous rod stock. DSM has found the nylon face width for a gear blank can be cut as thin as a half inch, without any lateral shifting during use.

      The nylon covering for NylaSteel™ stock shapes, which provides wear resistance, resilience and quiet operation, is made of Nylatron® cast nylon. Quadrant offers NylaSteel™ composites with several different types of Nylatron® cast nylon: NSM (maximum wear resistance) and GSM (maximum impact resistance) are the standard materials; and MC®901 (heat resistance to 260°F) and MC®907 (a food-grade material) are available as custom materials.

      The standard steel core of the NylaSteel™ composites, which provides high strength and hardness, is 1117 cold-rolled steel. Stainless steel (303) also is available. The core is solid, permitting the purchaser to machine the desired inside diameter and configuration.
    • Nylatron GSM cast nylon from Quadrant contains finely divided particles of molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) to enhance its load bearing capabilities while maintaining the impact resistance inherent to nylon. This material may be cast in standard sizes and near-net shapes. Massive Plates, Rods & Tubes are avilable upon request.
    • Nylatron® NSM Nylon is the best bearing and wear nylon product available today. This proprietary type 6 Nylon formulation is produced using Quadrant's Monocast® process. Solid lubricant additives impart self-lubricating, high pressure/velocity and superior wear resistance characteristics. Nylatron NSM was developed specifically for demanding applications where larger size parts are required. It is ideal for bearings, gears and wear pads.
    • In wear applications, Nylatron NSM lasts up to 10 times longer than standard Type 6 nylon
    • Peek 30% carbon-filled is 30% carbon fiber reinforced polyetheretherketone which is either extruded or compression-molded. The addition of carbon fibers enhances the compressive strength and stiffness of PEEK, and dramatically lowers its expansion rate. It offers designers optimum wear resistance and load carrying capability in a PEEK-based product. This grade provides 3-1/2 times higher thermal conductivity than unreinforced PEEK--dissipating heat from the bearing surface faster.

      The addition of carbon fibers enhances the compressive strength and stiffness of PEEK, and dramatically lowers its expansion rate. It offers designers optimum wear resistance and load carrying capability in a PEEK-based product. This grade provides more thermal conductivity than unreinforced PEEK -- increasing heat dissipation from bearing surfaces improving bearing life and capability.
    • Polysulfone (PSU 1000) is an amorphous high performance polymer characterized by excellent thermal properties, good resistance to inorganic acids and bases, and outstanding hydrolytic stability against hot water and steam sterilization. Polysulfone's resistance to detergents and hydrocarbon oils is very good, even at elevated temperatures under moderate stress levels, and it complies with the National Sanitation Foundation's potable water standard up to 180°F.
    • Proteus® LSG HS PP (heat-stabilized Polypropylene) exhibits a heat deflection temperature that allows the material to be used in repeated steam and autoclave sterilization cycles. It is highly resistant to cleaning agents, disinfectants and various solvents.
    • Typical applications for Proteus® LSG HS PP include surgical trays, caddies and instrument components.

      The production process includes a special heat-treatment phase that allows for the higher heat deflection temperature and, thus, improved machinability and dimensional stability. Under the label of Quadrant's Life Science Grades (LSG), Proteus® LSG HS PP shapes are tested and certified for biocompatibility per ISO10993-5 to ensure quality throughout the entire manufacturing process. This offers the designer increased safety, approval facilitation, as well as reduced cost and time to market.
    • The material is available as plates in white and black (standard colors); other colors can be produced on a make to order (MTO) basis.
    • Semitron® CMP LL5 is one of the new materials developed by Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products to deliver longer production life in Chemical Mechanical Planarization retaining rings. Semitron CMP LL5 is an enhanced polyester developed with wear characteristics and inherent quality specifications geared to the semiconductor industry. Laboratory simulations show that Semitron CMP LL5 extends retaining ring-life by as much as 5 times over rings made of traditional PPS, depending on process conditions. The new product is also a lower cost alternative to PPS and suitable for use in all CMP processes, is ideal for use in ring designs that have steel or ceramic reinforcement.
    • Semitron® CMP XL20 is a modified polyamide-imide. It consistently outlasts all other engineering plastics in all major process environments and up to 20 times longer than PPS rings. Semitron CMP XL20 has the optimum combination of long life in use and mechanical properties needed in demanding process environments. Semitron CMP XL20 is the magic bullet for very demanding applications. It is the next generation standard, and it is available today.

      Semitron CMP XL20 sports the best combination of wear life and mechanical strength of any plastic tested in recent CMP simulation studies.

      Chemical-mechanical planarization (CMP) is a highly accurate polishing process that flattens and smooths silicon wafer surfaces. The process creates a more uniform platform on which to build ultrafine, multilayer integrated circuitry. The more widespread use of CMP is posing challenges for semiconductor manufacturing consumables.

      Semitron XL-20 is the logical choice for replacement of current 200mm & 300mm PPS Retaining Rings. Due to resin supply constaints on Techtron PPS, Quadrant is currently phasing out production of Techtron tubes for the 200mm retaining rings & customers worldwide are finding Semitron XL-20 as the most economical choice due to cost savings associated with longer part life.     • Semitron ESd 410C (black) – Static Dissipative/Conductive PEI (aka ESD Ultem™). Having an excellent mechanical performance up to 210°C, Semitron ESd 410 provides ESd- solutions at higher temperatures. Semitron ESd 410C exhibits excellent dimensional stability (low coefficient of linear thermal expansion and small water absorption) and is ideal for handling equipment in the electrical/electronic or semiconductor industries.

    • The Semitron® ESd family of static dissipative products was designed by Quadrant for use where electrical discharge in operation is a problem. They are commonly used for sensitive electronic components including: integrated circuits, hard disk drives and circuit boards. Semitron products are also an excellent choice for material handling applications, and components in high speed electronic printing and reproducing equipment.

      Semitron® ESd products are inherently dissipative and electrically stable unlike many other ôdissipative" plastic shapes. They do not rely on atmospheric phenomena to activate, nor are surface treatments used to achieve dissipation. Static electricity is dissipated through these products as readily as it is dissipated along the surface. All of these products dissipate 5 KV in less than 2 seconds per Mil-B-81705C.

      Semitron® ESd 225 Static Dissipative Acetal
      Semitron® ESd 225 is ideal for fixturing used in the manufacturing of hard disk drives or for handling in-process silicon wafers. It is tan in color.

      Semitron® ESd 480 Static Dissipative PEEK
      Semitron® ESd 480 is static-dissipative, carbon fiber reinforced PolyEtherEtherKetone for use where the properties of PEEK are needed, but protection from static discharge is a requirement. This material is available in sheets and rods and is black in color. Semitron ESd 480 has a surface resistivity of 13 10*6and 1 X 10*9Ù/sq, but its heat-deflection temperature is 480°F. Its chemical resistance makes it suitable for wafer handling and other structural applications in wet process tools where static dissipation is important.

      Semitron® ESd 500HR Static Dissipative PTFE
      Reinforced with a proprietary synthetic mica, Semitron® ESd 500HR offers an excellent combination of low frictional properties and dimensional stability. Semitron® ESd 500HR should be considered wherever Teflon* PTFE is used. It is ideal for applications where controlled bleed off of static charges is critical. It is white in color.

      Semitron® ESd 520HR Static Dissipative Machining Stock
      Semitron® ESd 520HR has an industry first combination of electrostatic dissipation (ESd), high strength and heat resistance. This new ESd material is ideal for making nests, sockets and contactors for test equipment and other device handling components. The key features of 520HR are its unique ability to resist dielectric breakdown at high voltages (>100V). The graph below demonstrates the electrical performance of plastic materials commonly used in automated test handlers. Typical carbon fiber enhanced products become irreversibly more conductive when exposed to even moderate voltage.
      Only Semitron® ESd 520HR maintains its performance throughout the voltage range, while offering the mechanical performance needed to excel in demanding applications.

      Semitron MDS100
      Semitron® MDS 100 has a remarkable combination of strength, stiffness and stability. It was developed to be used in uncontrolled application environments or where a high level of precision is required.
