    • Techtron® PPS CMP Retaining rings used in CMP machines utilize high-purity & long-wearing Techtron PPS.

      PPS Retaining rings that hold 300 mm semiconductor wafers during chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) must withstand repeated exposure to harsh chemicals and abrasives. One way that semiconductor fabricators gain the stiffness, purity and toughness needed in CMP rings is to use rings machined from Techtron® PPS. These shapes are made from a proprietary grade of Fortron® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS).

      Techtron® PPS shapes extend ring life significantly compared to acetal, polyester and generic PPS. Process experience shows that rings made from Techtron® PPS stock shapes withstand 2,000 to 5,000 CMP cycles compared to 1,000 to 2,000 cycles for rings made of these other generic PPS materials.

      In CMP, a layer of silicon dioxide, aluminum, copper or other material on a semiconductor wafer is polished to an exacting flatness before circuitry is etched on it. The slurry used varies in abrasiveness and pH depending on the surface material. During CMP, a polishing pad rotates against a wafer mounted on a ceramic base and held in a retaining ring. In addition to withstanding the polishing compound, the ring must be dimensionally stable and cannot flex during polishing.

      Techtron® PPS blanks are 12- to 24-in.-long tubes that are machined into retaining rings varying in height from 0.33 to 1.0 in. The 12-inch-diameter rings (I.D.) used with 300 mm wafers have wall thicknesses of 0.375 to 2.5 in. The Techtron® PPS used for ring blanks is a high-toughness grade that reduces chipping and breaking and has a tensile elongation of up to 25 percent.
    • Delrin® 570, this grade has 20% glass fiber filler. It has much greater mechanical properties over unfilled acetals.

      Delrin® Glass Filled provides the same basic properties as Delrin®, with added strength. Delrin® Glass Filled is a tough material that provides the added advantages of greater stiffness, improved creep resistance, low warpage and higher dimensional stability than Delrin® because it possesses surface characteristics of Teflon®. Parts designed using glass-filled will demonstrate good impact resistance, low deformation under load and high fatigue endurance. Delrin® Glass Filled is an excellent choice for its long-term mechanical stability in applications such as Anti-Friction Parts, Application Bearings, Gears and Parts requiring greater stiffness, Electrical Components and other Close Tolerance Precision Parts and Fuel System Parts.

    • Ertalyte® PET-P is an unreinforced, semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester characterized as having the best dimensional stability coupled with excellent wear resistance, a low coefficient of friction, high strength, and resistance to moderately acidic solutions. Ertalyte® is capable of sustaining high loads and enduring wear conditions. Ertalyte® PET-P offers good chemical and abrasion resistance. Its low moisture absorption enables mechanical and electrical properties to remain virtually unaffected by moisture.

      Also Consider Ertalyte TX - Ertalyte® TX is an internally lubricated version of PET-P, providing enhanced wear and inertness over general purpose nylons or acetals.
    • High Molecular Weight Polyethylene / HMW PE 500 grade is very extensively used as a wear or abrasion resistant component on conveyors, chutes, troughs, tension bars and liners. Being lightly 'softer' than UHMW, HMW PE is often specified for cutting boards because it does not blunt the knives as quickly and is food approved. HMW (PE 500 aka HD 500) polyethylene has a density 500,000 g/mol, compared with 300,000 g/mol for standard HDPE or 1,000,000 g/mol for UHMW. HMW PE 500 exhibits a good combination of stiffness, toughness, mechanical damping ability with wear & abrasion resistance.

      Typical applications of High Molecular Weight Polyethylene 500 grade: for use with food contact particularly trap and preparation surfaces (food boards, butchers blocks, food machinery/production parts, dough scrapers, food board racking, catering display)

      Kel-F - PCTFE (PolyChloroTriFluoroEthylene) Kel F is a fluorocarbon-based polymer and is commonly abbreviated PCTFE. PCTFE offers the unique combination of physical and mechanical properties, nonflammability, chemical resistance, near zero moisture absorption, and excellent electrical properties. These characteristics cannot be found in any other thermoplastic fluoropolymer with a useful temperature range of -400°F to +400°F. PCTFE also has extremely low outgassing, making it well suited for use in aerospace and flight applications.

    • Meldin 7021 Aircraft Engine Vane Bushing
      Meldin 7021 self-lubricating polyimide materials meet or exceed the most stringent requirements for aerospace applications. Backed up by third-party independent testing, the Meldin 7021 material grade provide our customers consistent mechanical and performance properties for aircraft airframe systems such as landing gear and fuselage components, as well as jet engine parts such as pads, bumpers, washers, seals, and bearings.
    • Norplex NP315 Graphite-Filled Canvas Phenolic. NP315 consists of cotton canvas fabric combined with a phenolic resin enhanced with a solid graphite lubricant to reduce wear. The product is easy to machine and operates with less noise than metal. In addition, this physical material is not as abrasive as fiberglass alternatives when used in wear applications. Applications include a variety of parts subject to wear. This material can conduct electricity and it should not be used where this could cause a safety hazard
    • Nylatron® 66 SA FST is a specifically designed polymer solution for aircraft interior applications. Its unique features make it the first engineering plastic product of its kind available as semi-finished shapes (rods and sheets). Fire, smoke and toxicity (FST) retardant capabilities enable Nylatron® 66 SA FST to withstand extreme temperatures up to 175°C. The material is particularly suitable for any kind of application where metal parts (e. g. brackets, seal bushings, slide rails and duct seals) or high performance polymers have traditionally been specified.

      Nylatron® 66 SA FST is the first commercially attractive solution for interior applications in aircraft. Nylatron® 66 SA FST has passed tests to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations FAR 25.853 - the first engineering plastic shape to achieve this standard and offering engineers a safe material solution.

    • Nylatron GSM cast nylon from Quadrant contains finely divided particles of molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) to enhance its load bearing capabilities while maintaining the impact resistance inherent to nylon. This material may be cast in standard sizes and near-net shapes. Massive Plates, Rods & Tubes are avilable upon request.
    • Nylon® MD (Cast 6) is a nylon and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) composition designed to improve the mechanical, thermal and bearing properties to Type 6 Nylon while maintaining its basic electrical and chemical characteristics. Cast Nylon MD is more cost efficient than extruded Nylon MD when it comes to production of large parts. The casting process allows for massive sheets up to 60" x 120", Rods up to 24" dia, Tubes up to 55" diameter, and even Near-net Shapes for the production of large, "hollowed-out" parts that would otherwise require heavy machining and waste.

      Through compounding, finely divided particles impart extra lubricity to this nylon, permitting Nylon MD parts to operate with little or no lubrication. This makes it especially suited to applications where external lubrication is impractical, contaminating or difficult to maintain. The added lubricity also contributes dramatically to component service life, making Nylon MD a very cost-efficient choice. Nylon MD provides non-galling and non-scratching characteristics, sound dampening qualities, insulating properties, resistance to oils, greases, most alkalies, solvents, and organic acids
    • Nylon® MD (extruded type 6/6) is a nylon and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) composition designed to improve the mechanical, thermal and bearing properties to type 6/6 nylon while maintaining its basic electrical and chemical characteristics.
      Through compounding, finely divided particles impart extra lubricity to this nylon, permitting Nylon MD parts to operate with little or no lubrication. This makes it especially suited to applications where external lubrication is impractical, contaminating or difficult to maintain. The added lubricity also contributes dramatically to component service life, making Nylon MD a very cost-efficient choice.
