Although fire retardant tarps can be used like how you use typical poly tarps, these have an additional advantage. These tarps are able to slow down the production of flames. These fire retardant tarps are treated with substances that make a material less flammable. So once these tarps catch fire, they will not burn easily. They can even possibly stop the spread of flames. Remember that fire retardant is not the same as fire resistant. The material will still burn, but the process will be slower compared with untreated tarps. Tarp users often choose silver fire retardant tarps for applications that involve fire risks. Race car events are a good example since motorsports are prone to vehicular accidents. These tarps are also often used in military camps and construction sites. The silver color can reflect the light coming from the sun so it is suitable for sun protection needs.
