Due to the discontinuation of a raw material ingredient used to make the TYGON® 2275 formulation, applications engineering had to research and develop alternative materials to make an improved formula. Engineering successfully developed a product that is based on similar chemistries as the current formulation. They were able to create tubing with the same physical properties and eliminate the post curing process to reduce lead times and better service the customer. There will be no change to the chemical resistance of the tube. The new product will continue to be DEHP Free, plasticizer free, and may be incinerated. The customer will receive a non-DEHP product that meets FDA. The tubing will also be submitted for full biological validation.
Tygon® 2475 is REACh compliant. - The European community has been setting a new regulation on the safe use and traceability of chemicals in the European Union. This system is called REACh and the law entered into force on 1st of June 2007. This product is REACh complaint and does not contain any SVHC™ (Substances of Very High Concern).
The physical properties similar. While working pressures at room temperature will increase slightly, the minimum bend radius will be minimally affected. All efforts were taken to maintain clarity. Tygon® 2475 is slightly stiffer and offers a less tacky feel. The durometer change is modest (72 Shore A to 75 Shore A). The slight increase in hardness provides a stiffer feel. A less tacky surface may be seen as a positive by customers.
