PTFE Sheets & Rods (VIRGIN Grade)
PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene), it is a fluorocarbon-based polymer that exhibits astonishing chemical resistance and ultra high-purity. Self-lubricating and with a low friction coefficient, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) sheets and rods are ideally suited for the manufacture of high-temperature seals, insulators and bearings used in semiconductor, aerospace & chemical processing industries. The Teflon® brand of PTFE is resin manufactured only by DuPont (see links of left-side of page). Several other manufacturers make their own brands of PTFE which are commonly available in the marketplace. Professional Plastics offers a wide variety of PTFE materials including Teflon®.

PTFE's mechanical properties are low compared to other plastics, and can be used over a wide temperature range of -100°F to +400°F (-73°C to 204°C). Mechanical properties are often enhanced by adding fillers (see paragraph below). It has excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties and a low coefficient of friction. PTFE is very dense and cannot be processed by melting. PTFE must be compressed and sintered to form useful shapes. Virgin Grade PTFE Sheets and PTFE Rods are available from this page.

  • PTFE Rods, Sheets & Tubing (all brands including Teflon®) exhibit the following characteristics:
  • Lowest coefficient of friction of any known material.
  • PTFE operates up to 500F.
  • Tremendous chemical resistance
  • PTFE is an excellent insulator
  • Limitations: PTFE has low compressive & tensile strength.

We used PTFE for an electrical connector application and very happy with the results. Received to our machine shop in Massachusetts in 3 business days from the NY warehouse.

We replaced a bronze bearing with PTFE and I can't believe the difference. No more secondary lubrication needed, and the part runs smoother, and faster than ever.

Finally, someone with Teflon Rods in stock. From what I understand, there is a worldwide shortage, but Professional Plastics had what I needed in stock. I received my order in 1 week via UPS ground.
