Sheffield Plastics Inc., a division of Bayer, is a recognized market leader in the production of high performance thermoplastic sheet for over fifty years. Together with our global affiliates, we are the second largest producer of polycarbonate sheet in the world, extruding MAKROLON® polycarbonate resin in several grades targeted for architectural, industrial, commercial, and aerospace markets. Our VIVAK®, copolyester sheet is the leader in display, store fixture, and interior sign markets. And, in keeping with Sheffield's continuing commitment to product innovation, a new generation of MAKROLON HYGARD® laminates was recently introduced for use in security glazing applications requiring the highest possible protection from ballistic attack and physical assault. On April 1, 2009, Bayer Films Americas merged into Bayer MaterialScience LLC (BMS) and will no longer be a division of Sheffield Plastics. Bayer Films Americas will continue to manufacture and market Makrofol®, Bayfol® & Bayblend® polycarbonate films.
